2015 Pantone Color of the Year: Marsala

For the month of January we are going to be looking at some exciting color trends in the design community, which effects everyone from interior designers, graphic designers, fashion designers, and beyond.  And the latest buzz is coming from Pantone’s 2015 Color of the Year, Marsala.  This red family jewel tone with hints of brown has gained a lot of positive followers as well as a few skeptics.  Marsala comes as a big change from Pantone’s previous five year selection history, which have been high intensity, lighter value shades.

Marsala is already coming strong on the scene.  Pantone and Sephora have joined forces to create their own collection of Marsala colored cosmetics and Sunday night’s Golden Globe awards certainly saw beautiful use of this shade.

In interiors, we love the look of Marsala accented with bright hued orange or turquoise to bring a hint of the unexpected with it.  The brown undertones of Marsala also make it classically beautiful paired with warm brown neutral tones.  Have you incorporated Marsala in your home already?  I’d love to hear your spin on this lovely, bold color!  If you're looking for even more Marsala inspiration, check out our Pinterest board.

Have a great day,
