Memorial Day Retreats: Modern Blue Ridge Mountain House

As Memorial Day approaches, we are all looking forward to spending that time on the lake, at the beach, or even your mountain retreat!  So I wanted to check out the beautiful architecture and interiors we have to offer here in North Carolina and I stumbled on this fabulous modernist mountain house in the Blue Ridge Mountains.  Architect Peter Gluck and his son designed their family retreat and I have to say, I would love to spend my Memorial Day here!  Here is a peek at the stunning house from an Architectural Digest spread.

Do you have plans to head out of town with the family this Memorial Day?  Hoping these will get you excited for the weekend or inspire a last minute reservation!

Have a great day,

May Party Prep

May is here and the schedule of celebrations, graduations, and weddings is already jam packed for us all! With so many holidays and parties in the making, take hosting to the next level! This month, we are dedicating ourselves to tips and tricks that will make your party the most memorable on the block. From setting a beautiful table for your Mother's Day luncheon or customizing your graduate's celebrations, we have ideas to bring a beautiful look to your home. With a firm vision and quick refresh, you will truly make the event sing!

Event planner and wedding coordinator, Morgan Martyn gave us some easy, stunning ways to make your table top pop!

Season Florals

Add seasonal flowers to bring fresh color and texture to your table.  Soft tones like white, pink, and blue create a sophisticated and polished look.  Consider fuller looking flowers like hydrangeas and peonies where one flower truly goes a long way, saving you from large costly bouquets.

Don't Forget Your Greenery

Once you've selected your featured florals and colors add a few stems of greenery to bring more fullness and to create a total look.

Have Fun With Your Vase!

Mason jars, tea pots, pitches, lanterns, and cloches can bring an unexpected, elegant touch to your table setting.  Harmonize your vase with your other table selections.

It's The Little Touches

The details are truly what make your setting special.  To take your table arrangement to the next level, place a single flower on top of your folded napkin and wrap both in a ribbon instead of a napkin ring.  Every guest now has their own pop of spring at their seat!

And check out our own Cinco de Mayo Table setting for tonight's National Association of Women's Business Owner's event!

Have a great day,

Charlotte Women's Magazine and Lovely Lacquered Accents

I was thrilled to be featured in this month’s Charlotte Woman magazine article on “Designing Women.”  You can check out the full article here!  The question and answer set up of the article was an excellent opportunity to discuss my background, design inspiration, and even a few tips!  One of the things I mentioned in the article was on my favorite design element for spring, which is a lacquered piece of furniture in a bright, vibrant hue.  It really brightens up a space and can be that point of intrigue in your space!

And in spirit of our favorite space, our theme of the month—your patio!

As the temperature is warming up, we are getting busy over here at Rosa Dest Interiors.  Keep checking in on our website as all our newest work goes up!

Have a great day,

Bringing the Outdoors Inside: Adding Floral Prints to Your Powder Room

The buzz that wallpaper is back is all around!  The Charlotte Observer recently ran a special edition all about what wallpaper can bring to your home.  Wallpaper adds color, pattern and texture that paint simply can’t give you and on top of that, it can end up saving you money when creating a polished look! The fabulously talented Traci Zeller put it best: “Wallpaper provides a great backdrop in a room.  When you have a bold wallpaper you don’t need a lot of art.”  Your wallpaper fills that decorative niche artwork does and can come in at a much lower price tag.

The options with wallpaper are so diverse, from textured grasscloths to bold prints, there is something for everyone and can be used in any space.  And if you’re not ready to commit to a bold print on every wall, an accent wall can be just the ticket!  And with spring blooming in full force, why not consider keeping that beauty all year long!  Here are some of our favorite floral prints that can give your powder room a beautiful, natural feel.

The final image is a powder room I just completed and I absolutely love the print!  Are you eager to get on board with wallpaper?

Have a great day,

Aerin Lauder, simply elegant

I first had the privilege of meeting Aerin Lauder at the debut of her first fabric line for Kravet in 2013.  I found her to be one of the most down to earth and gracious famous person I've ever met. Now I haven't met too many of them,  since I only run in that crowd periodically.  Haha

Today I was again touched by her simple elegance when she addressed a group of about 500 ladies at the annual Room to Bloom event sponsored by the Mint Museum auxiliary in Charlotte, NC

Aerin spoke lovingly about her grandmother Estee Lauder, sharing fond memories about life and the influence she had on her both personally and professionally.

Aerin also spoke about family, inspirations, lifestyle, her brand and philanthropy. A truly delightful person and role model. I am looking forward to reading her new book 'Beauty at Home'.

I will leave you with a quote from Aerin that touched me personally

"Beauty is present wherever there is Joy"

If you were at the Room to Bloom event, I would love to hear your thoughts on Aerins presentation.
Enjoy this beautiful day.

Simplifying Your Garden Color Scheme

One of the things we talked about in this month’s newsletter was making a harmonious, simpler palette for your garden.   And with the weather as incredible as it’s been, especially today, I can’t bring myself to sit inside!   Thinking about your garden like an outdoor room can be an excellent way to go about thinking with color.  Playing with pattern can create a really fun look too.

Simplifying doesn’t mean scrimping on the color and here are some beautiful gardens show just some fun you can have with color!

WE WANT TO SEE YOUR FAVORITE GARDENS!  Post them on our thread or shoot us an email and we will add you to our Garden Delights Pinterest board!

I hope you all are enjoying the warmer weather—it’s so invigorating.  Here’s to a fantastic weekend of sunshine, family, and friends!

Have a great day,
