Interior Design Spotlight: Jeffrey Alan Marks Showcases New Kravet Textile Line in Charlotte, NC

Last week I had the pleasure of going to an exhibition of the new textiles line of designer Jeffrey Alan Marks.  Jeffrey has been a design trendsetter for quite some time and launched to even more widespread fame in Bravo’s reality show Million Dollar Decorators.  Jeffrey or ‘JAM’ was an absolute riot on the show and he brought his larger than life personality to the event.

Jeffrey’s new fabric line was so much fun and incredibly versatile.  His line boasts fabric textures ranging from linens to chenilles and there really is something for everyone, from a masculine matelassé river rock inspired print to delicate, feminine natural prints.  His line has lots of mid-century inspiration, with pops of yellow, green, blue, and red dominating an otherwise neutral color scheme.  Each fabric finds a balance between a rustic and modern, which is executed so well.  Jeffrey mentioned his line also features a unifying tie-dye print that really ties the collection together, which he did not have for display yet and I absolutely can’t wait to see it!  He even told the group about how he used the new ‘Swirls’ pattern from his collection to upholster his dog’s bed.  That is one lucky dog!

What do you think of JAM’s most recent endeavor with Kravet?  He was such a character on Million Dollar Decorators, I’m sure we all have some hilarious memories of his antics!

Interior Design Meets Fashion: Matthew Williamson

I have loved following the movement of design through its many forms, especially the influence of fashion on interior design.  Designer Matthew Williamson has been collaborating with Osborne and Little, bringing his love of pattern, texture, and color to interior fabrics.  I have always lusted after his clothing designs and now I have another thing to add to the list!

Would you love to see one of Williamson’s textiles in your home?  I would love to hear your thoughts!

Seven Fireplaces We Love!

The weather may seem a bit gloomy lately here in Charlotte, North Carolina, but it has me excited for the cooler season!  And nothing says cooler weather than getting cozy by the hearth.  With three grown children, I like to think of all the times I was so blessed to spend time with my family in our living room by the fireplace.  A fireplace is such a strong focal point in a space with plenty of versatility between styles and finishes.  Renovations to existing mantles can be a great way to update your living space, bringing a delightful touch of detail.  Here are a few fireplaces that have me ready for sweater weather:

I almost can’t wait for the first time I’ll use my fireplace this year!  It’s so easy to lose track of time staring into the flames and listening to the soothing crackle of the fire.  With the a colder than average winter expected, it’s a great time to consider the possibilities of an exciting renovation to your existing fireplace or accentuating that fantastic focal point.  I’m excited to hear about your project!

Global Inspiration: Chinoiserie

The delicate and feminine expression of Chinoiserie motifs continues to inspire many designers.  Evoking the style of classic Chinese prints and scenes became widespread a few centuries ago and has steadily maintained its popularity.  Chinoiserie brings a beautiful, global addition to any space and a fantastic expression of worldly interest in any space, from a powder room to a bedroom.

Here are a few of the Chinoiserie inspired interiors that show the delicate beauty this style brings.  The versatility of this style is fantastic in modern and traditional settings, adding an excitement to any space its used.

Is this a style you would like to see bring life to your space?  I’m excited to hear your thoughts and bring your space to life together!
