NAWBO Event

Last night I hosted the National Women Business Owner’s (NAWBO) Charlotte chapter event.  I always look forward to meeting with such incredible women that have so much passion.  And last night was no exception!  We worked through the gloomy weather and moved inside, proving the theory of designers and hosts alike, that all congregation converges in the kitchen.

It is a fantastic group to be a part of and I was honored last year as a finalist for the NAWBO Business Woman of the Year.  I really enjoy the discussions I have with the other members, as there is always so much to learn and share.  Looking forward to our next meeting!

Our New Obsession: Lucy Smith Metal Designs

Lucy Smith Metal Designs out of Alabama is getting a lot of buzz for her fantastic metalwork.  Lucy forged a career as an interior designer and became inspired by her family’s metal factory and set out to make artisan hand-forged furniture and accent pieces.  These pieces are so versatile and Lucy’s attention to detail, add a thoughtful, distinguished presence to a space.

I hope this eye candy helped brighten up this gloomy Tuesday for you.  Do you enjoy these pieces?  I am always thrilled to hear your thoughts!

Mint Museum Potters Market

Last weekend I attended the 10th Annual Mint Museum Potters Market and it was such a blast.  So many local potters came out for the event, and of course North Carolina boasts the crème-de-la-crème of potters.  Not only does the event draw in local artisans, but it also raises funds to support ceramic acquisitions for the Mint’s collection. Here is a small taste of the gorgeous creations I saw:

I was absolutely in awe of Eric Serritella and his works, which are one-of-a-kind tromp l’oeil ceramic pieces that resemble birch trees and weathered logs.  Each piece is so delicate, he requested spectators to refrain from touching them.  No wonder, because I could barely keep my hands to myself.  His pieces are so fascinating and intricate, you feel like you need to touch them to believe they’re not wood!

What a fun experience last weekend and I definitely have some new artists to follow!

White Kitchens We Love!

Nothing says crisp, elegant, and timeless like white interiors, especially kitchens.  Looking back through previous projects, I couldn’t help but stop and enjoy this fun kitchen remodel I did for clients in the Piper Glenn neighborhood.  The cabinetry features a light brown glaze giving it a rustic finish and that unexpected detail that adds depth to a flat white finish.

The possibilities with a white kitchen are truly endless from traditional to modern and everything in between, there is a classic elegance that shines through. Here a few white kitchens that I found truly lovely and inspiring.
