All that Glitters

      Glamor and Glitter

Nothing speaks more to glamor than metallic's, and this year brings Metallic's and all that Glitters to  all things home decor.

Metallic threading, matte & shiny surfaces create contrast and reflective surfaces as shown in fabrics such as the velvet covered square panels by Kravet.  Who would have ever thought they would incorporate metalic threads into velvet?

Even the tablecloth  below, made of linen and cotton has metallic painted leaves.

Wall paper,
Metallic on wallpaper certainly makes a bold statement.

Glam Dining Room,
By combining different elements that reflect light such as the crystal chandelier,  the iridescent wallpaper, and the tufted velvet chairs in pale gold upholstery, glam is achieved.

Trends on the Horizon for 2012

DESIGN TRENDS FOR 2012

Be on the lookout for the new trends in home fashions making their debut in 2012 and bringing new life to your home.

Because fabrics are my true love, this will be the first trend I share.

Inspired by global trends and cultural influences,  patterns and motifs on fabrics blend texture and color of old-world looks with modern decor.

Ethnic embellishments and Cultural influences are found in fabrics from upholstery and bedding to wallpaper, rugs and accent pieces.

Kantha's

The magical textiles, hand made by the women of Bengal, India, are created from recycled cotton saris.
They are made of soft cotton; folded, layered and hand-stitched, warm and durable, and available in a  myriad of patterns and colors. Kantha's are a work of great beauty and can be used as throws, coverlets, and table coverings to name a few.

Available through Rosa Dest Interiors at Cotswold Marketplace

Suzani's

I''m  addicted!  I actually have found a great Turkish source for Suzani pillows and rugs and have some great ones available at my new retail space in Cotswold Marketplace
Suzani is an antique and decorative tribal textile made in Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and other Central Asia countries.

There are so many ways to decorate your home using Suzani's,

As table coverings, they couldn't be prettier. Suzani's,  I''m  addicted!  I actually have found a great Turkish source for Suzani pillows and rugs and have some great one. s at my new retail space in Cotswold Marketplace

In your bedroom;
Use a Suzani in your bedroom and add a splash of  Ethnic Chic as a coverlet, accent chair or pillow.

And if this cute little clutch doesn't jump out at you and say Love Me, I don't know what does!

I think I have to have it.
Ikat's

Ikat's are truly unique and meaning to "bind". They describe an ancient weaving technique and the vibrant fabrics that are created through this special craft.  Once used in ceremonial dress, to decorate the entrances of homes, and to symbolize wealth and prestige. Today, they are considered a form of are.  http://www.exploretessera.com/index.php/our-collection/details/browse/ikats/

You can bring the magic of the ikat into your home  as special upholstery pieces, wall hangings, pillows, table runners, framed artwork and so much more.

Table Runners
I love the use of color and the way the Ikat table runners are used together on the table to create the feel of place mats instead of the traditional way of placing the runner lenghtwise.

Upholstery
The Ikat upholstered, black lacquered chair is stunning paired with the white sofa.  It adds that pop of color and WOW factor to the living room.

Throw Pillows
You simply can't go wrong using the Ikat pattern on a couple of throw pillows.

Try any of these looks for spring! Start small with some throw pillows and if you love them, be bold!
I'd love to share my love for Suzani's with you and I still have some available at Cotswold Marketplace or contacted me so that I can share the love. Rosa Dest Interiors
