Lovely Lucite!

One of the biggest trends this year at High Point Market was lucite furniture!  This high quality acrylic furniture visually lightens and opens up a space.  The highest quality lucite is seamless, and almost crystal-like in appearance.  See how these beautiful acrylic pieces can add modern luxury to any space:

Bring Fall Colors into your Home!

As I start to see all of the beautiful fall colors outside, it inspires me to find ways to bring this beautiful palette of colors inside!  There are sensible ways to incorporate fall colors into your home without adopting a completely seasonal design.

For example, a fresh coat of paint is a great way to bring fall colors indoors.  The right paint color can really transform a room, and the way you feel in that room.  Fall color palettes are neutral in nature, so if your home needs some fresh paint, now is a great time to do it!  Neutral fall tones are a go-to for paint colors, so do not be afraid that a warm fall shade is too seasonal!  Below are some great fall palettes of Sherwin Williams paint colors:

Through the Home: Powder Rooms!

Powder rooms may seem insignificant, but when designed correctly, they can add a lot of flair to a home!  Powder rooms provide a great opportunity to take risks with bold colors and patterns that you may not feel comfortable using in larger, more visible spaces.

Choosing a fun wallpaper is a great way to make a powder room unique.  A bold, graphic pattern can really make a small room pop!

Counter space and storage are not as much of a concern in powder rooms, as they are not intended for everyday use.  Because they are usually used for guests, powder rooms are the perfect canvas for the less practical, but more unique fixtures and sink pedestals.  Due to their size and simplicity, powder rooms can be updated more frequently than larger rooms.  Simply switching out wallpaper can completely refresh and update the space.

With the holidays coming up, your powder rooms will be used more frequently by visiting family and friends!  If you need help selecting wallpaper and fixtures that will make your powder room pop, contact me at rosa@rosadestinteriors.com.

Have a great week!

Business of Design Conference at Wynn Las Vegas!

Back in August I attended the 10th Annual Business of Design Conference at the Wynn Hotel in Las Vegas!  It was a great opportunity to meet other designers and learn new strategies to improve my business.

One of the biggest treats of the conference was hearing from Roger Thomas, the designer of the Wynn Las Vegas and Encore at Wynn.  As the executive VP of design for Wynn Design and Development, Thomas travels the world to find unique accessories and accents, and carries a notebook to take down any inspiration.  During his presentation, Thomas said he is "looking for magic" when choosing accents and accessories for a space.  He discussed that hospitality is about making memories, so when designing a hotel, he is creating moments for everyone who experiences his designs.

Thomas's goal is to create moments for hotel guests with these floral designs with bright vivid colors.

The hotel entry way has beautiful hanging flowers, lit trees, and a flowered walkway.

This space is full of beautiful details, especially the dragon made of Swarovski crystals

The largest lamp I have every seen, what a unique find!

For Thomas, every room is a collection of details.  I experienced this when walking through the hotels.  From the bathrooms to the hardware, no detail was ignored.

Left:  Every piece of hardware has detail and decorative flair.
Right:  Even the luggage carts were not ignored, they were designed to match the lobby and complete the experience

The intricate moldings and paper lanterns add to the magic of the design.

Each bathroom has a unique design
Roger Thomas's design of the Wynn & Encore truly created a magical experience.  His designs and insights were very inspiring.

Traveling is a great way to get design inspiration for your home or office.  Hotels and resorts often use  whimsical or fantastical designs with unique art, bright colors, and daring patterns.  Although the design of a hotels are difficult to translate to a home or office (especially in Vegas!), they show us that a special design can create an experience, and no detail is too small.

Have a great weekend!
